On MiSTer these need a 128 MB SDRAM module and the CPS+ core, which the kit includes. The MAME sets run in unmodified MAME using its Hyper Street Fighter II loader. HBMAME needs the set definitions the kit writes compiled in. About CPS-2+ hardware
Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers is the 2017 Nintendo Switch edition of Super Street Fighter II Turbo, and it never had an arcade release. This backport rebuilds it as a CPS-2 game.
Akuma has his own select cell, and Evil Ryu and Violent Ken join the original sixteen fighters with their Ultra moves, colors and endings. Shin Akuma stays hidden, for twenty fighters in all.
Ultra's presentation comes with them: the Ultra title and intro, "The Final Challengers" lettering, a color select for the new fighters, and a choice of sixteen stages or Random once you have picked a fighter.
The Switch edition's sound effects play in every build, and on MiSTer its arranged music plays too. The ULTRA CONFIGURATION page in Test Mode switches the sound effects and, on MiSTer, the music between MODERN and CLASSIC.
The USA build is in English; the Japan build keeps the Japanese.
This is a release candidate.

How it's distributed
Each build is put together on your own machine from files you already own. You need:
- your own Nintendo Switch game files: the USA base game of Ultra Street Fighter II for the USA set, the Japanese base game for the Japan set
- your own Switch prod.keys
- your own arcade romset ssf2xj (with its parent ssf2t if yours is a split set) and the QSound firmware (qsound)
A small tool opens your Switch game files with your own keys, combines them with your arcade romsets, and writes out the finished MAME and HBMAME sets, the MiSTer files, and the music pack.
The builds
| Region | Title | MAME | HBMAME / MiSTer |
|---|---|---|---|
| USA | Ultra Street Fighter II | hsf2 | usf2t8 |
| Japan | Ultra Street Fighter II | hsf2j | usf2j8 |
Download
Merged, split and complete archives and extracted ROM folders are accepted. Use --rompath /path/to/roms (repeatable) and --check to verify arcade inputs before rebuilding from your disc. 7z needs installed 7-Zip; ZIP does not.
The kit is our reconstruction code and a short list of byte patches. Everything else is rebuilt on your machine from files you already own.

Notes
- The 4 MB audio builds run in stock MAME as hsf2 (USA) and hsf2j (Japan), with expected checksum warnings. Keep them separate from original Hyper Street Fighter II ROMs. The 8 MB audio builds run in HBMAME and on MiSTer; HBMAME needs the included set definitions compiled in.

- This is a fan backport, unaffiliated with Capcom. The sets are built from game files you already own; the kit ships only our own code and patches, plus the CPS+ core with its source and licenses.
