Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold, known as Zero 2 Dash in Japan, was the console revision of Alpha 2 that added Cammy as a playable fighter, first on PlayStation and Saturn and in final form in Capcom's 2006 PlayStation 2 anthology. It was never released on arcade hardware. This project rebuilds the anthology's edition as a real CPS-2 game.
It is a faithful reconstruction, not a remix. It starts from the original arcade Zero 2 Alpha program and restores the anthology's changes piece by piece: Cammy, her graphics, the audio, and the endings, each one checked against the PlayStation 2 original. Four regional builds are provided, shown below. The English builds also carry the full Japanese script, newly translated: every story and ending page, Evil Ryu's own ending, and all 452 win quotes.
This is a release candidate.
What's included
- Cammy restored as a playable fighter, with her graphics, palettes, voice, sound effects, win poses, and ending
- Cammy's own stage music: her X-Men vs. Street Fighter theme, played on Alpha 2's own sound hardware
- Shin Akuma selectable: press Start five times on Akuma at player select
- The revised title, presentation, and staff-credit screens for each region
- In the English builds, the full Japanese script in English: every story and ending page, Evil Ryu's own ending, and all 452 win quotes, plus red blood and Birdie's missing victory pose
- Four regional builds: USA (Alpha 2 Gold), Europe (Alpha 2 Dash), Japan (Zero 2 Dash), and an English Asia (Zero 2 Dash)
- 4 MB builds for real hardware and stock MAME, plus 8 MB builds carrying Cammy's full audio for HBMAME and MiSTer
New to the roster

How it's distributed
Each build is put together on your own machine from files you already own. You need:
- your own PlayStation 2 anthology disc image: Street Fighter Alpha Anthology, or Street Fighter Zero — Fighter's Generation for the Japan set
- your own arcade Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha romset: sfz2al, plus sfz2alj for the Japan set
A small tool reads the revised game from your PlayStation 2 disc image, combines it with your arcade Zero 2 Alpha romset, and writes out the finished CPS-2 build.
Two sizes of each build are produced. A 4 MB set stays within
original CPS-2 limits and runs on real hardware and stock MAME. An 8 MB
set carries Cammy's complete voice and sound-effect audio, more than an original board
could hold, for HBMAME and MiSTer (Jotego's jtcps2 core).
The builds
| Region | Title | HBMAME / MiSTer (8 MB) | Hardware / MAME (4 MB) |
|---|---|---|---|
| USA | Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold | sfa2g | sfz2al |
| Europe | Street Fighter Alpha 2 Dash | sfa2d | sfz2al |
| Japan | Street Fighter Zero 2 Dash | sfz2d | sfz2alj |
| Asia (English) | Street Fighter Zero 2 Dash | sfz2da | sfz2al |

Merged, split and complete archives and extracted ROM folders are accepted. Use --rompath /path/to/roms (repeatable) and --check to verify arcade inputs before rebuilding from your disc. 7z needs installed 7-Zip; ZIP does not.
The kit is our reconstruction code and a short list of byte patches. Everything else is rebuilt on your machine from files you already own.
What you supply

Release history
rc5 (2026-09-27)
- The STREET FIGHTER title lettering now uses the PlayStation 2 and Saturn yellow-to-green-to-blue colors across the intro and attract sequence in all four regions.
- Cammy's Psycho Streak now freezes the fight through her salute, as on the PlayStation 2: the stage darkens, and the opponent, projectiles and round timer stop.
- Psycho Streak now clashes with fireballs, knocking out a Hadouken instead of passing through it.
- Fifteen of Cammy's attacks now have their correct hitboxes.
- In Cammy's Arcade mode, her rival fight is against Rose again. rc4 showed Rose's dialogue, then a fight with Sakura.
- Every set has new checksums, so rebuild them with the rc5 kit.
rc4 (2026-09-24)
- Cammy's stage music is restored. You can hear it in a two-player match.
- Portraits before a fight and in the story scenes no longer pick up the wrong colors.
- In the English builds, the last lines of every ending now display in full, and ending text sits clear of the screen edges.
rc3 (2026-09-17)
- The English builds (USA, Europe and Asia) now carry the whole Japanese script in English. Every story and ending page is back, in the Japanese order, including scenes the English version cut short.
- Evil Ryu has his own ending again, with his narration and his scene with Akuma, instead of borrowing Ryu's.
- All 452 win quotes from the Japanese game, in English, picked by opponent and remaining health the way the Japanese game does it, and centered on screen. Cammy keeps her four Gold quotes.
- Story, ending and quote text is translated from the Japanese. Where Capcom's English said the same thing, it's kept.
- Red blood on hits in the English builds, as in Japan.
- Birdie's third victory pose is back; the English builds showed another pose in its place.
- The Manual guard panel on the select screen now explains itself. It appears when the operator turns on Auto Guard.
- Every set has new checksums, so rebuild them with the rc3 kit.
rc2 (2026-08-27)
- Fixed a sprite corruption that appeared during the attract sequence.
- Polish improvements to the title screens across all four regions.
- All four builds are rebuilt and set checksums have changed, so rebuild your sets with the rc2 kit.
rc1 (2026-08-25)
- First public release.
Related projects
- Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha, the same English restoration on the arcade Zero 2 Alpha, without the Gold additions
- CPS+, pair these sets with the arranged Saturn soundtrack on MiSTer, using the Gold Arrange MRAs in the CPS+ kit, which load them directly
Notes
- The 8 MB builds hold more QSound audio than an original CPS-2 board supports, so they run only on HBMAME and MiSTer, not real hardware.
- This is a fan reconstruction, unaffiliated with Capcom. The sets are built from discs and roms you already own, and the kit ships no code or data from the anthology or the arcade game, with one exception: Cammy's stage music uses about 4 KB of her theme's score from X-Men vs. Street Fighter (Capcom, 1996), which the kit carries.
